Detroit Musicians Association (DMA) is a local branch of the historic National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM).
With a 100-year history of promoting, nurturing, and preserving all genres of music composed, arranged and/or performed by African Americans in the Detroit area. DMA has supported countless musicians and sponsored projects such as an annual scholarship competition, workshops and clinics, youth symposium for Detroit area high school students, festivals, concerts, and awards banquets. The DMA archives are housed at the Detroit Public Library.
